Lahloo’s home-made Christmas!

8 Dec

Christmas for me is all about giving but it can be really tricky to find that special gift in the usual mayhem of Christmas shopping. It’s also really cold out there at the moment! So if you fancy giving something a little bit special this year and you’d really like to stay in the warm, how about making gifts. There’s nothing better than a jar of homemade ginger nuts to go with a pouch of Lahloo Tea. We’ve even gone to the trouble of giving you the recipe! Have fun (especially licking the spoon)!

Beans and buds!

12 May

Bath Coffee Festival 2010

Although it’s really a celebration of really good beans (with the likes of illycaffe, Bristol coffee roasters Extract, Bath boutique coffee roasters Lazy Jose and Cornwall’s Origin coffee) at the UK’s first coffee festival in Bath on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th May, we are going to be there to celebrate the true taste of tea buds!

You see, there is so much to discover and the tea that is generally on offer is really disappointing. So we’ll not only show you that you can love really good beans as well as really good buds (we do!) but we’ll also show you with our unique Forlife infuser teapots and tea infusers just how easy it can be to enjoy delicious leaf tea from fabulous producers.

It’s free to come along and there’s also ice cream, chocolate and gorgeous kitchen textiles to keep you busy. So head to stand B37 and open you eyes to the epicurean delights of tea with Lahloo Tea. We look forward to seeing you there.

Indulgent afternoon tea at Liberty London

5 Feb

Liberty Tea We are just updating our list of our fabulous tea stockists. They all share our ethos of serving and/or retailing sensational tea to match their other product offerings. Last year, we were so excited (jumping up in the air, kind-of excited) to receive an order from Kate’s favourite shopping indulgence, Liberty of London. And so, in the Summer we launched a bespoke range of Lahloo Tea at Liberty in the award-winning tea rooms.

Almost 4 years ago Kate sat in the tea room at Liberty dreaming of launching Lahloo. Now, in response to their customers, Liberty are retailing a range of gourmet teas and boutique tea infusers for the first time. Liberty tea sommelier, Freya Gabie, said: “Lahloo tea tastes absolutely fantastic. We really appreciate Kate’s connections with tea growers, her eclectic choice and the tea’s superb quality”.

The range includes Taiwanese Amber oolong tea as well as Mr Aoki’s green tea, and our unusual chatjans – South Korean hand-made, palm-size tea cups complete with their own infuser so you can explore different infusions of the same tea leaves.

We’ll be at Liberty regularly this year to help out with their wonderful tea-inspired events. Watch this space…

The indispensible guide to life

PS. If you’ve never been to Liberty, it’s a must-visit emporium of all things very special. Next time you go to London, Paris, New York or Dublin and you want to hunt out other unique and indulgent places to visit, my favourite book to pick up is The Goddess Guide by Gisele Scanlon. It’s packed full of inspirational and exquisite people, places and things – Kate loves it.

Sorapot – the most stylish glass teapot

25 Jan

“The world is a collection of small, beautiful things that are so detailed, they seem like miniature worlds, yet so ordinary they’re often left unnoticed. I designed Sorapot to emphasize one of my favorite- the unfurling of tea leaves.”Joey Roth, designer

How true! I came across this beautiful teapot whilst searching for a unique glass teapot to serve Lahloo tea in. Well, you can’t get any more unique, or stunning, than Sorapot.

Sorapot is a pleasure, both visually and functionally. The tea making process is suspended in the glass tube. Rather than confining tea leaves in a small mesh basket, Sorapot lets your leaves have full run of the interior as they unfurl, change the hot water into tea and releasing their flavour. Sorapot, sora meaning sky in Japanese, perfectly articulates the beauty of the everyday ritual of tea in a thoroughly modern way.

I love it! I think I may just have to buy myself one of these stunning teapots. I bet Mr Aoki’s green tea would look amazing in Sorapot.

What a stunning tea cup!

17 Dec

PA3

This is our favourite design so far!

Our Embossed infuser tea cup (chatjan) has been so popular we couldn’t get any more! So, we have a gorgeous new design handmade by the same designer – Yeo San, Ichun City, South Korea. It is actually our new favourite – we love it!

Comforting and tactile; they fit snugly in the palm of your hand. A gorgeous gift for someone special (maybe yourself!); yet simple enough to enjoy leaf tea everyday at  home or at work.

How to make the perfect cup of tea:
♥ remove the lid, put your favourite tea leaves into the infuser
♥ pour on water, replace the lid and allow the tea to infuse
♥ remove the lid, sit the infuser in the lid and sip away!
♥ repeat with the same tea leaves to explore!

Enjoy!
